Too much excitement for a pre-season game

The incompetent cook in the cafeteria is gone! There is somebody there now who can make eggs over easy properly! The tater tots have returned! :D

There was hockey on my TV last night!!! Brent Burns (and his bare feet) played! There were two fights, LOL. Marco Sturm, Owen Nolan and Niko Dimitrakos were playing for the Canucks, which was kind of weird. I do have to say I really appreciate being able to watch Sharks games without having to worry about suddenly seeing Heatley's face at any given time, hehe. I know it's just a pre-season game, but when they pulled their goalie for a 6-on-3 at the end it got pretty tense!

Petr was on a line with Elias and Zach Parise in practice! He hasn't been cut yet! Man, I would be so happy if he made the team. :D

Devils looking at a Zach Parise, Patrik Elias, Petr Sykora line

The team coach Pete DeBoer put on the ice for today's first practice session looked very much like it could be an opening night lineup.

Among the missing were Bryce Salvador and Dainius Zubrus, both resting lower body injuries, as well as players such as Matt Taormina, Matt Corrente, Alex Urbom, Cam Janssen and Stephane Veilleux.

Most intriguing was the line of Zach Parise, Patrik Elias and Petr Sykora.

"I was actually nervous," an excited Sykora said after the workout. "I had too much fun today. I can't wait until practice tomorrow. Patty and Zach are two skilled players. You can see those two guys find holes. The little one-touch plays are there."

Elias was a bit more reserved.

"They're going to try different guys," he said. "We had fun."

And his thoughts about Sykora?

"Just a little bit older," Elias said. "I got younger.

"Chemistry is a big thing and we always had that."

Parise is anxious to see where it goes.

"(Sykora) is a good player. He's had a good camp," Parise said. "I'm anxious to try it outin a game."

So is Sykora, who remains focused in an effort to make the team on a tryout.

"This is something special for me, to be on that line with those two guys," Sykora said. "I'm going to do whatever I can to stay there. Nothing changes. I still have a long way ahead of me. Just show up tomorrow."

Sykora looks revitalized.

"I know the scoring is going to be there," Sykora said. "I know if I get a few shifts I'm going to be involved in scoring chances."

Parise, of course, is working his way back into top shape after missing most of last season. It is mostly timing now.

"I wouldn't say I'm completely sharp," Parise said.

I watched the Prime Suspect pilot and liked it a lot, but I wasn't a fan of the hat thing she would do. Maria Bello is great and I'm glad to see Kirk Acevedo in something (although I wish he was still on Fringe) as well as the guy from FlashForward with the Boston accent who's totally recognizable even though he lost the facial hair. Hmm, except he doesn't have a Boston accent! He's actually Irish for real, haha. I never watched the UK version, which is supposed to be better, but I do like this.

The Charlie's Angel pilot was so bad that I forgot I'd only watched it 3/4 of the way through. I watched the rest and they had a guest star who looked 15 years older than the (non-Minka) Angels but was still sexier. :P

Maaaaan, how hard is your life? :P

I didn't watch Prime Suspect, but I watched some of the old one with Hellen Miren who is awesome. I also love Kirk Acevedo because I am programmed to love everyone who's ever been on Oz. Which is a lot of people.

I cannot believe it is hockey season. I cannot believe there were Sharks on my TV last night! When my life quiets down, we need to see a game or ten. I'm going to make full use of my brief gainful employment and stimulate the hell out of the economy. I also need more Sharks stuff for my classroom, because my kids are still more amused than scared ("You... really like hockey, huh? You have a poster... and a flag... and post-it notes..."). Clearly I need, like, a Sharks' desk lamp and inflatable chair and bar mirror!

Food is very exciting!

Kirk Acevedo is apparently Chinese Puerto Rican! He had an awesome character on Fringe, but I don't see him having too big of a role on Prime Suspect.

We should pick out games to go see!!! :D We can stalk Marty. I still can't believe we have him.

Yay to new cook! Also, yay to pre-season hockey! But...

It doesn't sound like anything will get done soon. :( Lombardi and Meehan are in a Mexican standoff. Drew is probably eating ice cream.

they keep having white chocolate and raspberry muffins at work... made with cranberries or plums!!!! So wrong.

Wait, but... those are not... raspberries. I don't like muffins anyway. I would just rather have a cupcake.
