On we go to Round 2, my picks underlined:
- Red Wings/Sharks: I think the odds are actually in favour of the Red Wings this series. :P But not enough that I wouldn't pick the Sharks, hehe.
- Canucks/Blackhawks: It's so tough to pick the outcome of any series involving the Canucks unless there is a huge disparity between the teams, which there isn't in this case. I'm concerned about the Canucks defensemen, but they seem to have gotten it together against the Kings. Then there is the Blackhawks goaltending. Leaning towards the Canucks.
- Canadiens/Penguins: Not sure that the Habs' black magic will be effective against the Pens.
- Flyers/Bruins: Normally I'd look at the loss of Carter, Gagne and Laperriere and the possible return of Marc Savard and go with the Bruins. But I will let my emotional attachment to Brian Boucher cloud my judgement. :)
I normally do terribly on Round 2 picks, anyway, so might as well not think about it too much. Or say too much. So, my thoughts on the other 7 first round series:
Yep, they're still having tremendous sex against the Coyotes.
From the Battle of California Kings eulogy.
I guess R.J. Umberger was right about the Caps. Meanwhile, almost everyone else has no idea who the fuck R.J. Umberger is.
"I don’t think any team in the West would be overmatched by them," Umberger said. "They play the wrong way. They want to be moving all the time. They float around in their zone, looking for breakaways and odd-man rushes.
"A good defensive team is going to beat them (in the playoffs). If you eliminate your turnovers and keep them off the power play, they’re going to get frustrated because they’re in their zone a lot."
*peers at Thomas Vanek and Shane Doan* Oh, what was that? Injuries are not an excuse in the playoffs?
Poor Letang is robbed of the glory of his GWG by Sidney Crosby's game of keep away.
Preds finally get payback for years and years of carelessly injuring players on other teams. Demand death penalty for Marian Hossa, who sits in penalty box laughing inside at ineptitude of Preds PP, then shows them how it's done after he gets out.
