Sorry about Schaefer, by the way. I was really surprised to find out that he'd been asking to be traded all season. I was under the impression that he was in a good situation in Ottawa.

Yeah, I thought he was happy too. But I heard that he was really disappointed with himself and his performance last year. *shrugs* Whatcha gonna do? And I know they're trying to free up salary, so he was one of the ones that's been talked about for quite a while. Not entirely unexpected, but still sad. :(

I have no clue. Maybe he thinks the expectations will be lower on him there? Or he wants less pressure/distractions than Ottawa had?

Personally, I'm blaming his wife (since that seems to be the "in" thing to do right now in hockey! ;)). A girl I work with went to a Nickelback concert with tickets her buddy had won and they sat in a box with Schaef and his wife and she was a BITCH. If any girl so much as glanced at him, she'd give them a look of death and heaven forbid you tried to talk to him! She sounds like a charming piece of work. :)
