Ceska Republika!

Ahh! I got a little weepy with pride at how well the Czechs played. I was even able to love Marty Havlat for a brief, shining three hours.

Speaking of him, it's really strange how he looks and sounds exactly like Radek Dvorak, doesn't it, you ESPN fuckheads? No joke. They call Radek Dvorak Marty Havlat when he's interviewed.

I think Melrose gets it right as they're mentioning they're about to interview Dvorak, but then the interviewer guy looks him in the face and starts, "Marty Havlat, blah blah blah" and Dvorak is either too oblivious or too nice or possibly too in disbelief that someone would fuck up his name in a television interview to correct him, and they go back to the studio, and David Amber is all, "And that was Marty Havlat, of the Ottawa Senators."

ESPN so doesn't give a shit. :P

Also, apparently because Dvorak has assumed Havlat's identity, Havlat has assumed Hejduk's identity. Because Melrose couldn't possibly be talking about Mr. I-can't-score-a-goal-with-the-goalie-sprawled-on-his-tummy in the same breath as Elias as Czech players making an impact in the game, could he?

But back to the good. The Czechs were so amazing. That was an incredible game. I was screaming and shouting and it happens that nobody's at home, but even if they were, I don't think I could have kept quiet. I was that into it. I felt mild love for Jagr even. *shudders* And I got all weepy when Elias tied the game.

Anyway, I'm glad that it was Vinny who scored, and not someone untalented or some asshole. If you know which two I'm referring to, I'll give you cookies. :D Nestle Toll House chocolate chip. *nods*

Heh, yah it was rather loud at my house this afternoon too. *grin*

Can't believe there's only one game left in the season though. HOW are we gonna survive 'til next season?! *wail*

how long 'til the Olympics? *sob*

Haha, I'll bet. That was such an exciting game, lots of scares no matter which team you're supporting. :)

*clings* Dude, I'm... I'm going to be reduced to watching simulated games on NHL2K3 (or NHL2K5 maybe, since it's only $20--but I digress) again. :P

17 months! Be strong, 17 months!

LOL - I didn't think you'd actually KNOW the answer to the Olympics question. That's funny!

Seriously though, that game was great. I wouldn't have been surprised if the Czech's had won, in fact they had some great chances. Luongo did good though - well except for goal #3. Gods that was sad ...

They mentioned it during the broadcast, I think. *giggle*

Yeah, it was very close. That 3rd goal was suspect but he made so many other fantastic saves. I'd say he definitely had the tougher saves than what Vokoun faced. Vokoun's 3rd goal was somewhat suspect too, come to think of it. :P

Probably he saw Elias with the puck and was blinded by the thought of his shirts.

Well, he's the one who wears Prada. No. Wait. That's in fic. Yeah.

Thank you! So I wasn't deranged. I kept saying that was Dvorak, and they kept calling him Havlat, and I was afraid I was losing my mind.

Can't I have cookies anyway? ;)

They gave poor Joolzie a heart attack twice I think. :P

Hee, sure! *gives cookie*

ESPN sucks donkey dick. >.<

AND THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE PROFESSIONALS!

Ugh. I've never heard it said that way. I cringe just imagining someone saying "Eli-ass".

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they wanted to interview Havlat but got Dvorak instead and... no! There was a close-up on his face! How do you mistake those two???

*sniffle* I was so hoping they'd win so that maybe he'd get a chance in the next game, but... *sigh*

Hee, not those two, but you can have cookies anyway because I'm a big pushover. :P

Dude, Melrose has said Czechoslovakia so many times. :( I blame Keenan.

Dvorak is either too oblivious or too nice or possibly too in disbelief that someone would fuck up his name in a television interview to correct him

I love him, so I'll say it's option two (which is plausible), but the first one is a very real possibility.

Could you tell me what he said, pleeeeeease?

Unfair that they got the Dvorak interview, isn't it?

Yes. *sulks* They don't even know who he is!

You...You guys got a Dvorak interview? :cries with jealousy:

:hugs you: I'm sorry.

:beats up ESPN:

The Czechs did play an amazing game. Much much better than the Canadians.

Yeah, he was very sweet, all nodding earnestly and stuff. :) I posted a phone post of the interview, btw.

*hugs* Thanks. Was a great game to watch, really exciting. It kind of just makes me happy about hockey in general. :P

A friend of mine who lives in Georgia was watching the game on the phone with me (both of us were tuned to ESPN2) and when OT started, SHE got football and I watched the rest of the game, being more vocal than usual in my watching to make sure she knew what was going on.

You think you're bitter over the whole Dvorak/Havlat thing (I didn't know who was who because I don't know what either looks like, really)... she didn't even get to see the OT. Stupid football.

C.

OMG that is truly horrific. I mean, I'm sure most people are more interested in football than hockey, but that's just wrong. You don't cut off OT. You just don't.

Yeah, you're telling me.

She was NOT happy about it.

And, really, had Vinny not gotten called for being grabby (holding), the Czechs wouldn't have converted, and the game probably would not have gone to OT where Vinny scored the gamewinner.

Anyway... *g*

And I got all weepy when Elias tied the game.

-Me too! I love him :)
