Seasons change

I love Preacher. I read the first trade paperback last night which was the first 7 issues or so. I needed that. I needed that feeling again: that feeling of deep satisfaction that you only get from the marriage of art and words.

I'm in a funny mood today. It's cold and warm in San Francisco at the same time. The air feels clean and a man roams the streets, asking for three dollars and twenty-five cents so that he can get drunk and recover from his heroin addiction. I haven't seen it today, but a gay couple can walk downtown holding hands and kissing and nobody turns to look. If I read it right, according to Preacher God is in San Francisco. That sounds so right.

Ooh, that's cool. I'm a sucker for cities being anthropomorphized! I think it started with reading a Sandman(?) story about how cities are asleep and how this guy got caught in its dream. Thanks for sharing that. :)

I think you're right. I'm just more ... attached(?) to cities because I grew up in and lived in a city for 19 years and it's still tough for me to believe that other places actually exist. ;)

Found it! It was issue #51 of Sandman titled "A Tale of Two Cities". It's been reprinted in Book 8 of the Sandman series "World's End". And I forgot to mention that it's a comic book. :P

Preacher rules. If you like it, you have great taste. I almost envy you that you'll be able to read the enitre series for the first time. It is truly amazing.

I loved it! I'm going to go slow so I can enjoy it more, even though I really want to race through it. :P

The cover art is amazing, and the characters are so interesting (and disgusting and annoying and funny and sympathetic but always interesting) ... I'll have to re-read the first book soon while waiting for the rest. :)
