For anyone interested, here's the Markus Naslund chat.
Hmm, and I copied it into this cut, since these things have an awful habit of disappearing from sites after 3 months or whatever. Ooh must rip off Petr chat too!MARKUS NASLUND CHAT TRANSCRIPT</a>

Welcome to the Markus Naslund chat... we are ready to go.
agent_salamander (Oct 11, 2002 4:01:26 PM)
Do you ever set any personal goals for yourself heading into a new season?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:02:24 PM)
No, I did earlier in my career, but since I stopped doing it, things have worked out much better for me. Now I only really set team goals.
Le booG (Oct 11, 2002 4:02:44 PM)
Markus, on a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your teams performance last night? Is Calgary a team you think you should beat?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:05:02 PM)
Yeah, I think they are one of the teams we want behind us. Overall I think our game last night rated as an 8. I think it was a really well played game on our part and was one of the best opening night games that I have been a part of.

Markus, you've said "Team Toughness" and even an "Enforcer" is an important part of any NHL team. Looking at the current roster, there is much more skill than toughness. In your opinion will you guys get creamed out there in some of the 82 games, or risk injuries to guys like Bertuzzi without more toughness, especially now that Brown was lost on waivers?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:07:28 PM)
I think the fighting is a part of the game that helps the skilled players, but you need a tough guy that can play. I don't want Jovo and Bert out there gooning it up, but I think overall we have a tough team that will get the job done.
CanuckMikee (Oct 11, 2002 4:07:35 PM)
which new player to the canucks roster this year do you think will have the biggest impact to the team?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:09:34 PM)
I think all of them. I am looking at everybody including Klatt. I know he is not new, but not having him last year makes him almost seem like a new player. He is so good for that second line. As for the others, I think both Allen and Fedorov will be great additions and showed why last night.
shadow_xo (Oct 11, 2002 4:09:41 PM)
Markus, do you play a role in the development of the Sedins? Do you think that they will break out this year, and if so, to what extent? Are they going to be a couple of Naslunds themselves?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:11:11 PM)
Well, I try to help them out as much as I can, but they are fairly mature for their age. As for what type of players they can become, they are different from me, but I think they will be top one or two line players for their careers.
babygirl (Oct 11, 2002 4:11:20 PM)
Hey Naslund, are there games that you look forward to more so than others? If so, which games and why?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:13:05 PM)
I always enjoy playing Toronto because of the hype. Ones that the media always focus on are the ones I like to play in the most. Teams like, Colorado, Toronto, Detroit and Edmonton are always easy games to get up for.

Last night the commentators on sportsnet said you and Bert and very close friends but are so different in personality. Do you hang out with Bert off the ice and if so, whats an example you two do together?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:15:32 PM)
We do hang out together, mostly on the road since when we are at home we are with our families. We are both really into cars. He is trying to get me intersted in golf eventhough I don't really enjoy it.
The Game (Oct 11, 2002 4:15:46 PM)
In your opinion, who is the toughest goaltender in the leauge to score on?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:17:52 PM)
That's a tough question. I try not to focus to much on goalies. It's the team in front of them that make it tough. Once you get to the goalie, there is always a way to score. I guess for me it's the guys you don't get a chance to see very often. Dominik Hasek was a real problem for me last year.

Everyone knows about your famous wrist shot, how does one, young hockey player, develop such a hard and accurate wrist shot?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:20:51 PM)
Practice, practice, practice. Repetition pays off and that is the only answer I can give.
hockeydrunk (Oct 11, 2002 4:21:01 PM)
Every prediction from every sports station is putting you guys in the playoffs and making a run for the cup. Does this put any pressure on you or the team knowing you have expectations to live up to?
Markus Naslund (Oct 11, 2002 4:22:20 PM)
For sure. That is one thing you have to live with. Everybody including you have predictions about how you should do and it is not always easy to live up to them. I hope we can fulfill the hopes we have for the season.
chatmaster (Oct 11, 2002 4:22:37 PM)
That's all the time we have. But don't worry, Markus will be back soon. Thanks for coming, everyone, and I hope you enjoyed the chat. It was our most popular ever with 175 people attending.
